The genesis of this work is an image taken from a novel, itself inspired by a striking real-life episode. The bodies of four retired women were found in Greece, with a suicide note lying beside them: “We are going because we don’t want to be a burden to you.” Four actors and actresses appear on stage in an attempt not to create a fiction but rather to understand this act. Vacillating between play and the exteriorization of consciousness, they approach, via the difficulties they have in representing it, the moral collapse of our societies. Without pathos or a plea for help, but instead with subtlety and humour. This show was created five years ago, following the Greek economic crisis, the repercussions of which continue to worsen even today.
