Bouvy Enkobo is a visual artist born in Kinshasa, in the Democratic Republic of Congo. He lives and works between France and the DRC. A graduate of the Fine Arts Academy of Kinshasa, in 2013, he was selected to represent the DRC at the 7th Jeux de la Francophonie in the painting category in Nice. In 2014, he was awarded first prize by the European Union at the first edition of the Yango Biennale in Kinshasa. In 2019, he participated in the Latitude Art Fair in Johannesburg, South Africa. The inspiration for his pictorial work comes from the images he perceives around him, which allow him to navigate between reality and his imagination and explore a universe combining the abstract and the figurative. Through this, he questions the notion of the representation of images. These excerpts from reality, through his collages and de-collages, intensify and energize the duality of his paintings.
