This show, born out of an urgent need to re-examine a reality bordering on the absurd, takes a raw and offbeat look at the many roads taken by street children in Senegal. Placed in Koranic schools by their families, these children are forced to work to pay off the school fees. They spend most of their time begging instead of studying. The Senegalese expression “God’s bits of wood” refers to these children and inspired the famous novel of the same name by Sembene Ousmane.
