Dialogue is at the centre of Olivia Hernaïz’s practice. Her various projects serve as the pretext for conversation with others. In 2014, Hernaïz began the project known as Would you like to make my portrait? Sitting on a model’s chair, she asked passers-by to draw her portrait, thereby inviting the public to unleash their creative potential. From artist to muse, spectator to creator, she inverses the creative process, challenging the dictates of artistic talent as she does so, like the poet Robert Filliou, a self-proclaimed genius without talent.
