With the video performance Lost Shores, artist Carolina Andreetti immerses us in her investigation into the history of the Rio de la Plata and its coastline. These beaches attracted thousands of bathers until 1975 when access was prohibited due to pollution. Through the live manipulation of digital files, audio and video archives, and Playmobil figures in a setting recreating scenes from this bygone era, the artist composes a narrative that is both documentary and fictional, and one that not only revives the city’s social memory but awakens the desire for sunny days along the shore.
Carolina Andreetti is a visual artist who lives and works in Buenos Aires. Her practice explores fluvial territories, articulated through the study of the region’s riparian communities, cartography, memory, and archives.
The performance program presented at FRAC Champagne-Ardenne as part of this 7th edition of the Faraway Festival was curated by Mabel Tapia, an independent researcher and curator. Born in Buenos Aires, she lives and works in Paris. Her research focuses on 21st-century artistic practices that bridge the use of archives and political action.
