The Stroker is a two-channel video installation based on Takala’s two-week intervention at Second Home, a fashionable co-working space in London for young entrepreneurs and startups. During that period, the artist posed as a wellness consultant by the name of Nina Nieminen, and founder of the innovative company Personnel Touch, allegedly employed by Second Home to provide physical contact services in the workplace. Nina would walk around Second Home, being friendly to everyone, greeting and lightly touching people as she passed. Her presence sparked discussions in the office, with employees chatting amongst themselves and visibly bonding over their shared incomprehension of the situation: the artist was nicknamed “The Stroker”.
