After Sleeping Beauty last season, the iconic St. Petersburg troupe, the Yacobson Ballet, return to the Opéra de Reims with another masterpiece from the classical repertoire: The Nutcracker. Created at the Mariinsky Theatre in St. Petersburg in December 1892, The Nutcracker is undoubtedly the world’s most performed ballet. Conceived as a magical illustration of the many stories told to children in street theatre performances in St. Petersburg, this ballet is the result of a new collaboration between Tchaikovsky and Marius Petitpa. Between dream, fairy tale and romance, the Yacobson Ballet troupe offer audiences a magnificent classical ballet that makes use of the 1934 choreography by Vasily Vainonen for the Bolshoi. A moment of pure grace!
