Jalila : un hommage à une poétesse

Présenté par Césaré

Jalila is a work for voice and oud, presented by Youmna Saba, which pays tribute to Jalila Bint Morra, a female poet from the pre-Islamic era. The work consists of an imaginary dialogue between the poet and the musician, taking an excerpt from Jalila Bint Morra’s poetry as the starting point.

A musician and author-composer from Lebanon, Youmna Saba embarked on a career in music in 2006. She has collaborated with many musicians, including Mike Cooper, Nadine Shah, Oiseaux-tempête, Kyungso Park, etc. and has participated in numerous artist residency programmes, such as Hwaeom Spiritual Music Residency (South Korea, 2017), Sound Development City (Spain, Morocco, 2016), Gyeonggi Creation Center (South Korea, 2013), OneBeat (United States, 2012). She is currently working on several creative projects: Sodassi (Paris 2018, 2019) and Menura (Lebanon/Switzerland, 2018, 2019).
