This edition of faraway 2026, which focuses on Argentina, invites a broader reflection: the tensions currently crossing the Argentinian art scene remind us how much the freedom to create remains a universal stake, including in France.
In a context where ideological, political, and societal tensions are multiplying, the question of the freedom of artistic creation and dissemination is posed with renewed urgency. How can this essential space for expression be preserved in the face of pressure, censorship, or self-censorship?
This panel discussion aims to explore the multiple facets of this fragile freedom, through the cross-perspectives of culture professionals, artists, researchers, and institutional actors. Together, they will question the obstacles currently encountered by creators and programmers, as well as the means to resist attacks on artistic freedom.
Between historical reflection, sharing of experiences, and perspectives for action, this meeting seeks to place the artist and the freedom to create at the heart of the public debate and affirm their indispensable role in the democratic and cultural vitality of our societies.
