At a red light in a big city, a four-wheel drive comes to a stop. At the wheel, a lady offers her help to the young pregnant woman who seems to be waiting there for an unknown reason. Aristide Tarnagda, an author, actor, and director from Burkina Faso, portrays an African youth with a sequestered destiny, locked in a continental night that drags on and on. Here, he gives voice to a young woman from the street, allowing her to tell her own story, her refusal of the destiny traced for her by her family, just like the aid that keeps her helpless. On a spartan set, Ramatou Ouedraogo, a young actress from the Récréâtrales “Le quartier” troupe, gives expression to this voice full of life, desire, and hope for the future, despite the threatening August sky above her, where storm clouds gather.
