Lettres du Continent is a feature film project initiated by Kabako Studios bringing together 21 video letters from young artists or collectives from the African continent, 21 self-portraits during the Covid-19 period, from several countries: Morocco, South Africa, Senegal, Comoros, Tanzania, Gabon, Tunisia, Nigeria, Democratic Republic of Congo… They live and create in Tunis, Dakar, Lagos, Moroni, Dar es Salaam, Maputo or Kinshasa…
The crisis has been there, sanitary, economic, political, but for some, the crisis has been there for so long that they have become magicians… Where he lives, dreams and works, each. he tells us in his own way his daily life, the difficulties, the worries, the hopes, the impasses and the parades and reaffirms more than ever the need to create, here, now, against and against everything…
Written in May-June 2020, these 21 letters represent the self-portraits of a new generation of dancers, choreographers, performers and directors who juggle their contexts to better invent and share the stories of a continent in full change.
