The Oromo people live in poverty in their native land of Ethiopia. By the hundreds of thousands, they seek exile in Saudi Arabia, an extremely wealthy country where they hope for a bountiful future. However, the journey there is long and perilous, almost impossible. It is carried out on foot when the migrants are unable to afford the smugglers’ high fees. It is full of pitfalls and traps, some of them deadly. From the mountains of Djibouti to the streets of Aden in Yemen, Charles Emptaz and Olivier Jobard followed these Ethiopian migrants on the road. Olivier Jobard received the Bayeux Prize in 2020 for his video images for this documentary.
